Overseas Holiday Home Insurance Policy Summary
This is a summary of the Alan B Kidd Overseas Holiday Home Insurance scheme. The policy provides a range of cover as standard subject to the type of Holiday Home you have and the sections of cover you have selected as applying to your holiday home.
This policy summary does not contain the full terms and conditions of cover, but highlights the main features and benefits and significant exclusions to help you decide if the policy meets your needs.

Holiday Home – means the private dwelling of standard construction including it’s outbuildings and garages all used for domestic purposes.
Building- means the home and it’s decorations including it’s fixtures and fittings, tennis courts, patio’s permanently installed swimming pools, terraces, drives, gates, fences and fixed fuel tanks all within the boundaries of the land belong to the home.
Contents means – Household goods and personal effects including tenants fixtures and fittings and decorations inside.
Personal Property means - clothes and personal items worn, used or carried – also portable radios portable TV’s, sports equipment and pedal cycles.
It does not include valuables or money.
What is your Overseas Holiday Home Insured against?
The Kidd Overseas Holiday Home policy protects you against the following contingencies:
- Fire, lightning, explosion or earthquake,
- Aircraft and other flying devices dropped from them,
- Storm or flood or Weight of Snow,
- Riot civil commotion, strikes, labour disturbances or malicious damage,
- Malicious Damage,
- Water (escaping from, or frost damage to , a fixed water, drainage or heating installation or washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, waterbed or fish tank),
- Subsidence or Ground Heave,
- Falling Trees, Telegraph Poles or Lamp Posts,
- Theft or attempted theft,
- Collision by any vehicle or animal,
- Escape of Oil,
- Accidental Damage to the building (subject to this extension of cover being selected by you),
- Breaking or collapsing of Radio and Television aerials or satellite dishes,
- Accidental breakage of Fixed Glass in doors, roofs, fixed sanitary ware, ceramic hobs and tops of fixed cookers,
- Loss of Rent and alternative accommodation – up to 10% of the building sum insured,
- Replacement of locks,
- Fire Brigade Charges,
- Costs of finding a leak,
- Loss of Oil or metered water as a result of accidental damage to the heating or water installation,
- Public Liability – Limit €1,300,000 any one claim,
- Employers Liability – Limit €2,600,000.
Examples of Exclusions and Conditions
Claims Excess – this is the amount you will pay in respect of a loss.
All claims (excluding Subsidence) €200 each and every claim.
Subsidence, landslip or ground heave claims €1,500 each and every claim.
You must take reasonable care of your property.
